We’ve had many encounters with mile-long request lists, so thought it might be important to shed a little light on how many songs can actually be played during a reception. This will be an extreme approximate, of course. For example, if you want a ton of oldies at your reception, the songs are short enough to make your DJ break a sweat. You could fit a million of those suckers into an hour. Of course, most brides wouldn’t select a ton of oldies (and we wouldn’t suggest THAT many!). And we have to imagine you wouldn’t put Hotel California on your play list. So here’s a good average for you:
Approximately 15-17 songs can be played in an hour, using an average of 3.5-4 minutes per song.
