If you tell your DJ that you don’t like certain wedding songs like the chicken dance and hokey pokey, and he seems terrified to check those off the list…you may want to reconsider your choice. A great wedding DJ has no problem avoiding those two songs from your do not play list. We really only play these songs if the bride requests them herself, if there is large group of children at the reception, or if the bride says it’s okay and we get some requests.
With that said, you may want to consider keeping in some organized wedding line dances, such as The Hustle, The Cupid Shuffle and The Cha Cha Slide. Your DJ will get several requests for those songs, and they are guaranteed to fill the dance floor more than 90% of the time. These seem to draw new people out to the dance floor, and re-engage the wedding guests in the party.
