Try to add humor into your wedding wherever possible. Make your guests laugh and they are sure to have a great time! Realize that people need to be kept UP through all moments of the night. From the start of your ceremony until the end of your reception, their level of “joy” is constantly shifting. Throw mini-surprises to keep raising the bar throughout the day.
You could have a funny wedding montage, give a goofy toast thanking your guests, use a hilarious grand entrance song, do a coordinated wedding dance, write an interesting story on your wedding program, have your DJ recite something humorous about each of your bridal party members during the grand entrance, sing a song (if you can), etc.
Think of it this way: Your reception is always ‘on stage’. Just as any great speaker has to capture the attention of their audience, so do you. Dull doesn’t produce extraordinary results. Going above and beyond does.
Work with your Wedding DJ to be creative! With that said, avoid believing that your DJ can say something to motivate your guests to dance. People dance to optimum music selections, not some guy telling jokes on the mic.
Your DJ is there to make remarkable announcements, coordinate the night for you, and play superior wedding songs that have your guests dancing the whole night. DJ’s aren’t professionally trained to be in stand-up comics or dance in a way that captures the audience. Let them do what they do best…DJ!
