Here’s a trend that is growing in popularity…have a wedding after-party at a bar/lounge.
Consider the following:
1) Try to host it at a place that is unique to your friends and guests. I’m a firm believer in keeping the surprises coming right up until the very end.
2) Hire a shuttle to transport everyone to and from the location.
3) Make sure there is a DJ on staff, and if not…see if you can bring your own in. Nightclub DJs shouldn’t cost you much more than a few hundred for a couple of hours. If you’re a karaoke crowd, be sure to include karaoke in the mix.
4) Provide hors d’ouerves if you can spring for them, but a cash bar is fine!
5) Be sure to bring a really cool party dress to change into! But keep it obvious that you’re the bride!
6) Consider asking the establishment to offer a signature drink, and name it something cool.
Whatever you decide, be sure to make it fun and keep your guests entertained!
*If you’re really trying to trim costs, consider doing an afternoon lunch reception with fun and light cocktails from noon until four, and then following it up with a sunset party at a local bar. It wouldn’t be rude to have a cash bar at the “after-party”, but be sure to include the hors d’ouerves and fun!
